DESCRIPTION

The Product Safety and Compliance teams ensure Amazon transactions satisfy legal and safety requirements in accordance with guidelines set by regulatory bodies. The core task of Product Safety and Compliance Operations (PSC-Ops) is classification of ASINs through several methods; including Rule Writing, manually reviewing each ASIN and using customer feedback as a source of input for programs like Product and Food Safety, as well as ensuring transactions meet required documentation for regulatory purposes.
This ensures that Amazon sells legally compliant products that are safe for customers, storage and transportation. We coordinate the identification of potential risks of the items offered in the Amazon Catalog, and that appropriate actions are taken to eliminate any safety hazards for customers. This covers both local, international and internal policies in place.

As a Product Compliance Specialist:

- You draft and maintain workflows, work instructions, and SOPs that align with team strategies. You develop and maintain workflows in the scope of your work.
- You support junior associates in resolving process cases that deviate from a typical workflow, or those not covered by an SOP.
- You use your operational knowledge of an assigned Product Compliance program and team SOPs to recommend process changes to drive metric improvements based on team goals.
- You perform root cause analysis, supporting your manager and stakeholders to resolve incidents related to your scope of work. You participate in deep dives and/or escalations in your functional area, you create action plans or projects based on these initiatives and/or escalations. You ensure that actions or process changes are implemented.
- You contribute to or identify Product Compliance processes improvements (e.g. automation, inflow prioritization, reduce manual effort, eliminate redundancies, drive tool adoption, SOP updates, etc.).
- You analyze the processes your team works on, and you audit your team's transactional work. You highlight issues (e.g. process or tool gaps), recommend solutions to your manager and you implement the agreed upon actions.
- You are able to create and use straightforward reports (e.g. error statistics) from multiple data sources, to improve compliance accuracy metrics. You prepare data for weekly and/or monthly business reviews at team level (e.g. team reports, testing results, callouts, business overviews, etc.).
- You communicate effectively with stakeholders (e.g. Program and/or Legal teams) and/or partner teams (CTT, SSA, C-OPS from other nodes, etc.) on your project/task with support from your manager, and under your manager's guidance you act as a POC on the process area(s) in which you have expertise.
- You identify with your manager any junior-associate knowledge gaps and/or training needs at the team or individual level. You design and deliver training as needed.

In addition to the core responsibilities listed above, you will be expected to take on a larger organizational role. These can include tasks such as:

- You may handle straightforward escalations until resolution (e.g. Undeclared Dangerous Goods Shipments, Incomplete Product Recalls, Incorrect Product Restrictions, etc.) and you follow instructions for more complex cases, which you resolve with guidance.
- You perform root cause analysis, supporting your manager and stakeholders to resolve incidents related to your scope of work. You participate in deep dives in your functional area, with your manager and Process Experts, to create action plans or projects, based on escalation resolutions.
- You ensure that actions or process changes are implemented. You stay on top of team, project, product communications and updates and you share relevant information with your team. You clearly articulate scope, timeline, owners, risks, and the steps to mitigate those risks at each stage. You analyze the processes (workflows and SOPs) your team works
